We are working with Snug Harbor Cultural Center & Botanical Garden to develop a holistic and actionable master planned vision of its near future and beyond. The Snug Harbor Marvel Dome is a playful gesture to the organization’s future and intended to provide clarity to the visitor experience while on campus. It also serves as a passive exhibit to inform the public about the master plan process and ideas.

Marvel Architects, along with architect Deacon Marvel, assembled and installed the temporary, wooden geodesic dome over a weekend this past summer. The dome, a derivative of the Buckminster Fuller Dome developed by an American engineer, architect and futurist R. Buckminster Fuller (1895-1983), is a spherical space-frame 3-D sculpture that’s composed of an interwoven network of modular struts to create a self-bracing framework.

Visitors get to experience the planning possibilities at Snug Harbor within a visionary environment.

Special thanks to Snug Harbor Cultural Center & Botanical Garden; Deacon Marvel, Principal at Deacon Marvel, Architect (Boston); and the Northeast Contracting Group, Inc.
