This new dynamic YMCA campus is in the northeast Bronx Community District 12, alongside NYCHA’s Baychester and Edenwald Houses. The YMCA’s vision was to build a facility that meets the wide-ranging needs of the economically diverse youth and families that live in the Northeast Bronx and provide access for neighborhood families to a state-of-the-art community hub, a space for everyone from children to seniors to engage in safe and fun recreational activities.
The building's three pavilions center around an interior courtyard, containing mature trees carefully preserved from the original site.
The double-height entry lobby in the main pavilion opens onto a plaza which provides space for outdoor activities and gatherings.
The Northeast Bronx YMCA is a modern, vibrant recreational and community facility with programs and services to build a stronger, healthier and more connected neighborhood.
Throughout the facility, views of the interior courtyard are preserved, adding a constant connection to nature.
The YMCA building includes two swimming pools, a 7,200 square foot dividable gymnasium, a wellness center, childcare, group exercise studios and sub-dividable community and multipurpose rooms.
